Website

The film festival of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University is the result of the efforts of MU students who during two semesters in the subjects PV110 Basics of Film Narratives and PV113 Production of Audiovisual Artefacts complete teaching of practical film production, often without previous experience. In small teams and individually, they go through the entire process of preparing a short film from themes through literary and technical screenplays, production, editing, post-production and manage the work of screenwriters, directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, producers, editors, actors and others.

The finished films of various genres and technical approaches are publicly screened at the May festival at FI MU and, from the 16th year, at the Scala University Cinema in front of almost 1,000 spectators. The best films are awarded by an expert jury and the audience votes in the halls. The winners will receive cash prizes, material prizes from sponsors and will also receive a traveling trophy - a statuette of Filmobol.

History of the festival

The first film festival was established in 2001 out of enthusiasm for the new possibilities of digital video processing, for the needs identified in the preparation of the CD All Five Together and for the desire of FI students to create their own film, to express themselves both in words and images. During one semester, ten film etudes were created, from the author's initial idea, through the script to production, digital editing and festival preparation.

The success was unprecedented, as the editor of the student magazine Informagika put it: "The fact that ten funny films were created under the hands of computer scientists seems to me as incredible as the possibility that ten English people write the operating system." The attendance of the festival is constantly increasing. In the 16th year, it even expanded for capacity reasons, and in addition to the premises of FI MU, it is also screened in the Scala University Cinema.
