Film, submit and win the 26th FFFI MU!
We are happy to announce that the film submissions for the 26th Film festival of the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University are now open!
This year, we celebrated a quarter of a century of the Film Festival of Faculty of Informatics MU in a big style. The 25th anniversary edition was held for the first time not only at the faculty building, but also in the very heart of Brno – at the Velký Špalíček multiplex cinema. The festival thus crossed its traditional boundaries and opened up to the wider public.
The student films were being screened in two auditoriums at the cinema named KERNUN and MUNI. The program was accompanied by themed activities, such as a photo booth, behind-the-scenes insights, and a short film quiz, which livened up the atmosphere between screening blocks. Each film was followed by applause reflecting the audience’s genuine interest and enthusiasm, which ultimately led to the results of the audience vote.
The results were announced in the KERNUN hall and were simultaneously being streamed to the faculty and the second cinema hall – so that no one would miss them. There was a festive atmosphere in the air all around the place, and it was clear that this was an exceptional moment for both the creators and the audience.
More than 500 visitors attended the festival, including jury members, media partners, sponsors, filmmakers, our friends, and even curious newcomers who were captivated by the program. During the breaks, interviews were conducted and a documentary was filmed.
The 25th anniversary edition of the Film Festival was held, as usual, at the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University, in addition to the new venues. The university gates opened to visitors on Tuesday after 6 p.m.
Visitors could watch the competing films in four rooms spread across three floors of the faculty building A and in the KYPO classroom in building S. Before the festival began and during breaks between blocks, visitors could take photos in our photo booth, with various film-related props. From the second break onwards, visitors could also browse merchandise related either to this year's films or to the festival itself.
At the end of the festival, just before the results were announced, some of the organizers gathered in the KYPO room to bow to the audience together. The announcement of the results was accompanied by loud applause in all screening rooms throughout the faculty. This successful 25th edition ended with an afterparty called Rozbij se, which was held at Cabaret des Péchés and it went on until the early morning hours.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in preparing the festival, as well as those who came to support the students' work. It would not have been possible without you. We are already looking forward to next year!
